SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Cortland freshman forward Dany Donegan (Cicero, NY) has been selected the Northeast Women's Hockey League's Rookie of the Week.
The honor is for games contested from Monday, Jan. 6, through Sunday, Jan. 12, and was announced by the NEWHL on Tuesday, Jan. 14.
Donegan helped guide Cortland (9-3-1) to three non-conference wins last week, totaling eight points on two goals and six assists while extending her point-scoring streak to 10 consecutive games. She was a +6 during the three-game stretch.
In a 7-2 home win versus Alvernia on Monday, Jan. 6, Donegan recorded one goal and two assists. She then tallied a goal and an assist in a 4-0 victory at Neumann on Friday, Jan. 10, and collected a career-best three assists in an 8-2 victory vs. the Knights on Saturday, Jan. 11.
For the season, Donegan has 19 points on eight goals and a team-high 11 assists and is ranked seventh nationally overall and first nationally in freshman points-per-game with 1.46.
